OUR TEAM
The work is carried by people who care.
Our staff and volunteers work side by side. Together they organize supplies, prepare programs, welcome neighbours and help people connect with useful local services.

Many hands and one shared purpose help Compassion Society of Halton serve neighbours across Halton.
Their care turns community generosity into a welcoming visit, where every neighbour is recognized, chooses what suits their household and can ask any question. Have a question for someone on our team? Call 905-592-3722 and we will connect you.

OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Meet Sara Collyer, our new Executive Director.
Sara Collyer, Executive Director
“Leadership is an act of care.”
Sara Collyer joined Compassion Society of Halton as Executive Director in October 2026. She brings more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership in community services, food security, fundraising and regional partnerships, much of it here in Halton and the Hamilton area.
As the first Executive Director of Open Doors Community Hub in Burlington, Sara brought a collection of programs together into one integrated community hub. She co-founded the previous Feeding Halton Collaborative, which brought agencies together to coordinate food security work across the region, and she has served on the boards of REACH Niagara and St. Matthew’s House.
Sara describes herself as a strategic leader, fundraiser and care-giving advocate. Her own experience as a cross-generational caregiver shapes how she leads: she believes empathy, humour and resilience matter as much as strategy, data and systems, and that leadership is an act of care that builds trust, nurtures potential and creates the conditions for people and communities to thrive.
She holds a Non-Profit Leadership Certificate from Mohawk College, is studying at the Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Leadership, is trained in trauma-informed organizational leadership and is a member of Rotary.
MEET THE TEAM
The people who keep care moving.
Our small staff keeps supplies moving, programs running and every visit ready. You may meet any of them when you come in.

Keith McFarland
Manager, Logistics and Procurement
We are excited to extend a warm welcome to Keith McFarland, our new Procurement and Warehouse Coordinator. Keith will play a vital role in sourcing, organizing, and distributing food, clothing, and essential items to support the growing number of families we serve. His skills and dedication strengthen our team at a critical time, as we prepare for the busy fall and winter season.

Pippa Parnham
Client Care Manager
Welcome! My role is to help ensure that Compassion Society is more than just a place to access food. As Client Care Manager, I support clients in accessing our programs, navigating community resources, and connecting with services that can improve their overall well-being.
Whether you have questions about our services, need help finding community supports, or simply aren't sure where to start, I'm here to help.
While meeting immediate needs is an important part of what we do, I also work alongside clients to identify opportunities, connect with local resources, and provide support that helps build greater stability and well-being over time.
Compassion Society is here to support you on your journey, and I look forward to helping you access the services and opportunities that best meet your needs.

Angie Milne

“I love being a part of such a welcoming and supportive community of volunteers - the camaraderie and dedication to providing food, clothing and services to our neighbors-in-need is unmatched!”

Nancy Recalde
Administrative Coordinator
As the child of immigrants, Nancy has seen the importance of community support and the positive impact it can have on people's lives. With a background in psychology and experience in administrative roles within churches, Nancy is passionate about supporting others through her organizational skills and experience. She is excited to join the team at Compassion and contribute to the work they do in the community.
