OUR IMPACT

Impact begins with being seen.

When a household comes to us, the first need may be groceries, personal care items or another essential. The deeper impact comes from how that help is offered: with room to choose, time to ask questions and respect for what matters most in that moment.

A useful item eases pressure today, and a thoughtful conversation can help someone see a practical next step. Together, those moments create breathing room for people facing rising costs, housing pressures, health concerns or a sudden change in their lives.

Approximately 750 Halton families rely on these services each year.

This is our current planning estimate.

BEYOND THE IMMEDIATE NEED

One conversation can open more than one door.

Food or personal care may be the reason someone first walks in. What weighs on a household may also involve housing, health care, work or another challenge that is bigger than any one organization.

Our Referral Partner Program connects neighbours with the right local services. A $184,200 Ontario Trillium Foundation Grow grant over 24 months is helping us grow the program and the partnerships behind it.

  1. Listen

Start with what matters most to the person in front of us.

  2. Clarify

Work out together which kind of local support could help.

  3. Connect

Share the right service and exactly how to reach it.

  4. Next step

Make sure they leave with a practical way forward.

COMMUNITY CAPACITY

The right support matters most when it arrives at the right time.

Needs shift through the year. A run on personal care products, a back-to-school rush or a full storeroom can quickly change what is most useful, so we share our priorities and work with volunteers, donors, businesses and funders to meet them.

In October 2026 alone, schools, churches, residences and families brought in more than 1,700 pounds of food and essentials. Volunteers sorted and shelved it, our staff matched it to the families who needed it and our partners carried the help further.

  • Priority supplies

Food, personal care items, diapers and school supplies arrive in answer to what families need.

  • People power

Volunteers receive, sort, stock and prepare supplies so they are ready when neighbours visit.

  • Stronger pathways

Funding and partnerships keep our referral program and daily operations running.
